#30 Kickflips, Punk Riffs, and Backyard Halfpipes: A Skate Chat with Lance Smith
**Beginning choppy for a second**
I caught up with Lance Smith, the legend behind Clockwork Custom Skates, to reminisce about the glory days of skating and punk rock. We swapped stories about how we first got on boards, skinned our knees, and blasted the Dead Kennedys on cassette tapes (Google it, Gen Z).
Lance shared how he pulled off the ultimate skater flex: acquiring a downtown halfpipe and plopping it in his backyard. Respect. We laughed about old skate spots that are now overpriced juice bars and marveled at the new breed of skaters—fearless maniacs who make our "wild" tricks look like casual warm-ups.
We got nostalgic about the lifelong friendships forged through kickflips and dive bars, then hyped up the new skate park opening next year (finally, a spot where my knees can creak in public again).
If you’re into skating, punk rock, or just want to hear about two old dogs barking about the good old days, this one’s for you.

Shock rockers like Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson? Double check. Oh, and speaking of Manson, prepare for a chat about the LEGENDARY creativity that made him a generational icon.

#22 Slaying with Bill from Slay Positive
This week, I’m joined by Bill from Slay Positive, and let me tell you, unraveling the mystery of their band name is like trying to find the last piece of pizza at a party—intense and slightly awkward! It all started with some epic Halo sessions, and who knew virtual combat could lead to musical greatness?
We’ll dive into their three-year odyssey of making music. Going to festivals and spotting other bands that made us question if we even know how to play instruments. Spoiler: we probably don’t. Plus, we’ll chat about their new single, “No Hook,” which is so catchy it’ll have you humming in the shower—and trust me, that’s a slippery situation waiting to happen! And let’s not forget their upcoming track, “Good Hair,” the ultimate anthem for anyone who’s ever faced a bad hair day and still wanted to strut like they just walked off a fashion runway.
Bill’s also got a comedy interview show, “Slayed,” where he proves that laughter really is the best medicine—unless you’re deep into a Halo match, then it’s just a pesky distraction from your score. And for the ultimate entertainment experience, check out their music videos on YouTube, ranging from Dragzille to Mechanical Funk—yes, they do come with a side of funky bass and smooth vocals that will make you question your own singing ability (and perhaps your life choices).
So tune in for laughs, wild stories, and some questionable life decisions—because that’s how we roll! Get ready to giggle, groove, and maybe even grab a hairbrush mic!
